Employee organisations are asking again: “How do you feel about it?”
Employee organisations’ Mikä fiilis? (“How do you feel about it?”) campaign, promoting unionisation, will be running on television, in cinemas and on social media in October and November.
Organised by the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK), the Confederation of Unions for Professional and Managerial Staff in Finland (Akava) and the Finnish Confederation of Professionals (STTK), the purpose of the campaign is to remind people that by belonging to a trade union we can help shape working life for the future.
The first stage of the Mikä fiilis? campaign, which took place in winter 2014, highlighted equality in pay, bullying in the workplace, zero-hours contracts and unpaid overtime.
The topics for the second stage of the campaign were chosen on the basis of the results from a target group survey carried out in spring 2015. The target group, which consisted of non-unionised employees aged between 20 and 35, expressed concern about undermining the rights of employees.
Among other things, young employees were worried about fair wages, sufficient free time, parental leave, and protection against dismissal.
The campaign will kick off on 15 October with five humorous television spots depicting imaginary scenes from working life in the future. The campaign will also have plenty of visibility on YouTube, Google, online TV services and social media. In addition, it will run on the radio and on the big screen in Finnkino cinemas.
The trade unions will also be using material related to the campaign in their publications and other communications. After the television and radio campaign, you can take a tongue-in-cheek test on how you feel about work on the campaign website and share your results on social media.
So isn't it about time you joined a union?
The campaign runs from 15 October to 30 November.
